Permanent Makeup in Bristol — Choose the Right Technique, Not Just the Studio

From £150

Permanent makeup at Nata Beauty is about matching the right technique to your skin type and lifestyle. It's not a single procedure—it's five different semi-permanent cosmetic tattoos: two brow techniques, two eye techniques, and one lip service. Pick the right one and it'll hold beautifully for 18–24 months. Pick the wrong one and it may fade unevenly regardless of who applies it.

If you know which technique you want, jump to the service page below. If not, read on—this page covers all the PMU options Nata offers and which ones work for you.

What "permanent makeup" actually means in 2026

People searching permanent makeup Bristol usually want one of three things: brow tattooing, lip blush, or a lash-line effect. The umbrella term covers all of them, but the actual techniques differ more than the marketing implies.

PMU deposits biocompatible pigment into the upper dermis using a digital machine (powder brows, ombre brows, lip blush, eyeliner, lash enhancement). Unlike body tattoos, PMU pigments are formulated to fade over 12–36 months, which is why it's called semi-permanent. A tattoo at the same depth would stay dark for decades.

Clients increasingly search for specific techniques by name. At Nata Beauty, the most popular services are powder brows and ombre brows for clients wanting defined, long-lasting brow colour, and lip blush for those seeking a natural, lived-in lip tone.

Which brow PMU is right for you

The two brow PMU options Nata offers aren't interchangeable. Your skin type—specifically whether it's oily or dry—is the biggest factor in which one will heal well and look sharp long-term.

TechniqueBest forFinishToolHealed lookTypical fade
Powder BrowsOily or combination skin · clients who wear makeup daily · clients who want a defined, filled-in archSoft all-over shade — like brow powder applied denselyDigital machineEven diffuse pigment, no visible strokes18–24 months
Ombre BrowsOily or combination skin · clients who like a darker tail and softer frontFront-to-tail gradient — lighter at the head, fuller through the arch and tailDigital machineFaded front, defined tail — more dimension than powder18–24 months

Quick decision: If your skin is oily, both powder and ombre work equally well—it's purely about your preference. Powder gives an even, makeup-like finish. Ombre gives a softer front with a bolder tail. Both hold beautifully for 18–24 months before a colour boost is needed. For a fuller breakdown of why these machine techniques hold on oily skin where microblading struggles, read our guide to the best permanent makeup for oily skin.

Lip blush, eyeliner, and lash enhancement

Beyond brows, Nata offers three more PMU techniques:

  • Lip Blush — a soft wash of warm pigment on and inside the vermilion border. It heals to a tinted, lived-in colour, not a "lipstick" look. It's the second-most popular PMU service after brow work.
  • Eyeliner Tattoo — a pigment line along the upper lash line, subtle or flicked. If you want to wake up looking like you're wearing eyeliner, this is it. See the different eyeliner tattoo styles, from a fine lash-line tint to a soft wing, to find the look that suits your eye shape.
  • Lash Enhancement — pigment between the lashes at the root, not above the lash line. No visible liner. Lashes look denser with a darker root. A subtle entry point for clients who want fuller lashes without definition.

The eyeliner and lash enhancement pair confuses people. The difference: place pigment between your lashes at the root only and it's invisible (lash enhancement). Place it along the lash line above the lashes and it's visible (eyeliner tattoo).

How long PMU takes — start to finished result

PMU is not a single appointment. Every service in the studio runs across two visits, and the price quoted on /pricing includes both.

  1. Consultation and patch test. Combined with the first session or done separately (20 minutes) the week before. Skin is assessed and the look is sketched on. Patch testing is offered for sensitive clients.
  2. First session: 105–135 minutes. Numbing cream is applied. The shape is drawn and adjusted until you sign off, then pigment is implanted.
  3. Healing: 7 to 28 days. The skin sheds. Pigment looks 30–40% darker at first, then between days 10–20 it looks faded (the "ghosting" phase) as pigment settles into the dermis. This is normal.
  4. Perfecting session: 6 to 8 weeks after the first. Sparse spots are filled, colour adjusted, shape refined. This is when your result becomes final. It's bundled into the £330 price—assessing healed PMU without it is like judging a haircut before it's dried.
  5. Top-up or boost: 18 months onward. Existing Nata Beauty clients pay £150 for a colour boost rather than starting over.

Pricing — the same for any single PMU service

All PMU services at Nata Beauty Bristol cost £330 first-time (including the 6–8 week perfecting session) or £150 for a colour boost. One price across all techniques—powder brows, ombre brows, lip blush, eyeliner tattoo, and lash enhancement. This removes price from the decision and leaves technique choice on merit. See /pricing for current durations, or read our guide to permanent makeup costs in Bristol for what shapes the price and why a single rate keeps the choice about technique, not budget.
