Brow Lamination in Bristol — Lift Only
From £55 · approx. 45 min
Brow lamination without tint is niche. Most clients book lamination + tint together (£65) because adding colour creates the full finish. But a steady group of clients here specifically book lamination only. This page is for them — and for anyone deciding between the two options.
When lamination-only makes sense
Two scenarios:
You already tint at home. Using Refectocil, 1000 Hour, or any OTC brow tint every 3–4 weeks means no point paying twice. Book lamination only at £55, keep your home routine, skip the extra £10–£20 for in-studio tint.
Your natural brows are already dark. Deep brunette or black brows often get only marginal visual change from added tint. Shape is what matters most for you, not colour.
If neither applies, brow lamination + tint gives more visual return for £10 more. That page covers the choice from the other side too.
How it works
Lamination is keratin-treatment chemistry applied to brow hair instead of head hair. Two solutions in sequence:
- Softening / lifting lotion. Breaks disulphide bonds in the hair keratin. Hairs become pliable.
- Brow combing. While bonds are open, hairs are combed upward and outward — typically a brushed-up shape, hairs pointing up at the front and out along the tail.
- Setting lotion. Re-locks bonds in the new direction. Hairs hold until they grow out or wash cycles relax them — 4 to 8 weeks.
- Nourishing serum. Keratin or castor-oil serum to rehydrate after the process.
Same chemistry as lash lifts on lash hair. Both work because disulphide bonds temporarily break under lifting lotion and re-lock under setting lotion.
The appointment
Consultation (5 min). Brow hair condition assessed. If you've had chemical brow treatment in the last 4 weeks, we may need to reschedule.
Cleansing (5 min). Brows cleansed of makeup, oil, skincare residue.
Lift solution (8–12 min). Applied to both brows, processed under cling film, combed into shape mid-process. Processing time depends on coarseness: 8 min for fine hair, 12 for coarse.
Setting solution (8–10 min). Re-locks the new direction.
Conditioning serum (5 min). Applied to brows and surrounding skin.
Shape and finish (5–10 min). Tweeze, trim if needed, final shape check.
Total: 30–45 minutes. The shortest brow service we offer.
Aftercare — short list, but it matters
- No water on the brows for 24 hours. Showers OK; just keep the brow line dry.
- No oil, cleanser, or skincare through the brow area for 48 hours. The setting lotion finishes locking the bond in the 48 hours after the appointment; oil interferes with this.
- No swimming, sauna or steam for 48 hours.
- From day 3, treat as normal. Use a brow brush daily to maintain the brushed-up shape.
- Apply a brow serum 2–3 times a week. Castor oil or any commercial brow conditioner. This extends the lift duration.
How brow lamination compares with brow PMU
A lot of clients use brow lamination as a "trial run" before committing to brow PMU. Here's the honest comparison:
| Brow Lamination | Brow PMU (microblading / powder / etc.) | |
|---|---|---|
| Duration | 4–8 weeks | 12–24 months |
| What it changes | Hair direction (shape) | Adds colour / fills gaps |
| Works on bare patches? | No — only on existing hair | Yes — pigment can sit where no hair grows |
| Cost | £55 single service | £330 first-time (incl. perfecting session) |
| Healing | None | 7–14 days |
| Reversible? | Grows out naturally in 4–8 weeks | Fades over 12–24 months |
| Best for | Wanting fuller brows now, low commitment | Wanting genuinely sparse areas filled long-term |
Many clients book lamination first to see what fuller-looking brows feel like in daily life, then decide if PMU is worth the bigger commitment.

Frequently asked
Two main reasons. First — you already tint your brows at home and want the lifted shape without paying for tint twice. Second — your natural brow colour is already dark enough that adding tint doesn't change the visual result much. If neither applies to you, lamination + tint is the better-value option at £65 — see [brow lamination + tint](/services/brow-lamination-tint-bristol).
