Lash lift aftercare: your first 24 hours and week one
Lash lift aftercare is simplest during the first 24 hours: keep the lashes dry, avoid steam and skip mascara. This Bristol guide explains the first week, the difference between lift and tint longevity, and when to rebook.
Lash lift aftercare matters most during the first 24 hours. Keep your lashes dry, avoid steam and leave mascara off until the next day while the lifted shape settles. At Nata Beauty, lash lift is £42 for 40 minutes; lash lift plus tint is £51 for 55 minutes.
The lift typically lasts 6-8 weeks, while a tint usually fades visibly around weeks 4-6. This guide explains what to do after a lash lift in Bristol and whether your care needs to change after lash lift and tint.
Lash lift aftercare: protect the lift for 24 hours
For the first 24 hours, Nata’s written aftercare says to keep water, steam and direct splashing away from the lash line. It also says to avoid swimming, sauna use and mascara while the lift settles.
- Keep the lashes dry for 24 hours, including during face washing.
- Avoid steam, swimming, heavy sweating and direct splashing.
- Do not use mascara until 24 hours have passed.
- Do not rub, pull or press the lashes while they settle.
- Keep active products away from the lash line at first, following Nata’s written aftercare.
Immediately after your appointment
The lash-lift service includes consultation, processing, conditioning and aftercare. Natural lashes are lifted at the root. Lift-only has no tint; the combined service adds a custom-mixed tint.
After the appointment, follow the personal instructions Nata gives you and handle the eye area gently. If you are concerned about the result or your natural lashes, contact the studio before changing your routine.
- Leave the lashes alone after the final check.
- Follow Nata’s written aftercare on water and steam.
- Follow any personal instructions Nata gives you at the appointment.
The first 24 hours
The first day is the main focus of lash lift aftercare. Nata’s written aftercare says to keep the eye area dry, avoid steam, swimming and direct splashing, then wait until the 24-hour window has passed before resuming those activities.
Nata’s written aftercare says to skip mascara for the first 24 hours. You can use mascara from 24 hours after the appointment. If you do, remove it gently without rubbing the lash line.
Keep retinol and other active products off the lash line for 48 hours, as advised in Nata’s written aftercare. For other cleansing or skincare choices, follow the personal guidance given at your appointment.
Days 2-7: your normal routine
From day 2, mascara is fine if you want it. Many clients do not need it every day, especially after a tint, but it remains an option. Remove it gently and avoid rubbing the lash line.
After the first 48 hours, return to your usual skincare routine according to Nata’s written aftercare. The shape will gradually change as your natural lashes move through their cycle.
Lift-only versus lift and tint
Nata’s written first-day aftercare is the same for both services: keep lashes dry, avoid steam and skip mascara for 24 hours. Lift-only suits clients whose natural lashes are already dark. The combined service adds a custom-mixed tint, and first-time tint clients need a patch test 48 hours before the appointment.
| Part of the result | Typical timing | What to remember |
|---|---|---|
| Lash lift | 6-8 weeks | The curl follows the natural lash cycle. |
| Lash tint | Fades visibly around weeks 4-6 | Colour can fade before the lift has grown out. |
| First tint patch test | 48 hours before the first tint appointment | This applies to lash lift plus tint. |
How long the result lasts and when to rebook
A lash lift typically lasts 6-8 weeks. Lifted lashes shed and new natural lashes grow in, so the result gradually becomes less even. Lash lift plus tint has the same lift timing, but the tint usually fades visibly around weeks 4-6.
Nata’s written guidance says to wait at least 6 weeks before another lift. Rebook as the natural lash cycle grows out, and message Nata before choosing a date if you are unsure.

When to contact the studio and book again

Lash lift is not suitable with active conjunctivitis, blepharitis or treated dry eye, recent LASIK within 6 months, a peroxide or thioglycolate allergy, extensions in place or broken lashes. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are also listed as cautions.
